You eat well at the Youth College.
We make almost everything from scratch, both bread and cakes, ketchup, mayonnaise, remoulade, roasted onions, iced coffee, barley water, pickling and fermentation...
Our kitchen
We are quite proud of our kitchen here at the college. In fact, we can confidently say that you will find world-class healthy and delicious cuisine here.

Lots of ecology
50% of our purchases are organic. We are very committed to sustainability, so we choose seasonal ingredients and buy meat locally when possible. We limit food waste as much as possible.
Makes food from scratch
We make almost everything from scratch, including all baked goods – both bread and cakes, ketchup, mayonnaise, remoulade, roasted onions, iced coffee, barley water, pickling and fermentation. Fermentation is an ancient, super healthy preservation method. When food is made from scratch, it becomes healthier and better for both us and the climate.
We use nature
Gathering: At Ribe Youth Folk High School we have nature right outside our door, so here we gather raw materials such as seaweed, dandelions, nettles, scallions, lilacs, rose hips, apples, mirabelle plums and quails – and whatever else is available in season – and use it in our kitchen.
Vegetarian, allergies and the college's food committee
If you are vegetarian, have allergies or something else, we will of course take that into account.
Folk High School's food selection helps to make a mark on the kitchen - and you can give them good ideas in the wish box.
If it's your birthday, you may wish for something special to eat.
Cozy meals
The main meals are served in the college's dining hall while the snacks are served in the snack corner.
We like to have time to both eat and talk, so our main meals are 45 minutes long.
When we have big parties, we get more dishes and give ourselves plenty of time to enjoy the party food together.
Everyone comes to the kitchen.
All students at the college come to the kitchen during the kitchen service. It takes turns between the contact groups to help with cleaning and washing up. You will probably also come by for a class or when you feel like baking a cake – maybe on a weekend.
