FGU students at college with student payments from the State
9th and 10th grade students or students who drop out of a youth education can have their student fees financed if they continue their education at FGU's basic vocational education program EGU. The education takes two years.
FGU students
In basic vocational education, the student is in internship in a company most of the time and is part of the daily life in a regular workplace. This can be, for example, as a mechanic, painter or service assistant. EGU alternates between company internship and school courses, where the student receives education that is relevant to the internship. The internship makes up 2/3 and school 1/3. It is the school course that can take place here at the Youth College.
A stay at the Youth College is a social journey. It provides new friendships, new relationships and completely different people to be with.

We work with the personal prerequisites
Some young people need to mature in order to complete an EGU course. We can facilitate this process and therefore we work with, among other things:
- “Who am I?”
- The desire to learn more
- The initiative to learn new things
- Attendance at classes and low absenteeism
- The young person's motivation
- The ability to make and keep agreements
We work with the social conditions
A stay at the Youth College is a social journey. It provides new friendships, new relationships and completely different people to be with. We improve the young person's social skills by working with:
- The ability to collaborate
- The ability to contribute to the community
- The ability to help others
- Understanding and respect for others
- The joy of being met with openness
EGU at a college as a combination course under FGU
It is possible to take part or all of the school course at the EGU at a college as a combination course. It may be relevant for some young people to take a college stay as part of a combination course, as a college stay can contribute to professional, social and personal development so that the goals of the educational plan can be met.
During their stay, students follow the general education at the college. Students also receive guidance on educational and career opportunities. At some college students can also do a business internship and follow classes at a vocational school while they are at college.
A permanent agreement has been made that the costs of the student's own payment will be covered by a pool administered by UVM.
Funding cannot be applied for materials and study trips.
How does the student get started with FGU and Youth College?
The path to EGU and Youth College is via the Municipal Youth Service (KUI) or the UU counselors at the primary schools. In collaboration with the local FGU institution, a course is organized and the Youth College is chosen as the FGU school for the course.
