MANAGED CLIMATE CREATION
Ribe Youth Folk High School will focus on climate for the next month. In all subjects, nature will play a role as inspiration, learning space, material awareness and reflection.
The project will be launched with a joint day on Wednesday 8/4 where everyone will be on the dike from Kammerslusen and 5 km north, where waste and garbage will be collected and removed from nature.
MANAGED CLIMATE CHANGE IS:
Handheld Climate Education is about reintroducing nature into high school education. To make it straightforward and accessible for young people to be in, use, understand and respect nature and its resources. Climate awareness is developed on many levels: teaching about nature, using materials from nature (gathering), re- and up-cycling materials and strengthening awareness of nature's cycle, growth, consumption and waste.
In very specific teaching activities, we include both awareness of and insight into the environment and climate when nature is included as a significant factor in the college education. Folk High School students thus gain a relationship with questions about our planet and the resources we consume. We include nature in all subjects and subject areas and allow knowledge and actions to be positive and constructive. We do not want to draw doomsday prophecies or to shame anyone for a dwindling commitment. By expanding the activity beyond all subject areas, we show that the environment and climate belong everywhere - not only where it seems most obvious, such as in the kitchen or in the forest garden. There is also climate in sports and design. Incorporating climate and the environment into everyday academic life at the college will give us a fourth point in the college's main goal. As an extra leg to democratic education, where the awareness that our actions each have a great and important influence on everyone and also others' lives on our earth.
