Ribe Youth Folk High School
In the middle of the village of Vester Vedsted, there has been a vibrant, free school for over 100 years.
Ribe Youth Folk High School
The school was built as a secondary school (one of the Kongeå schools) in 1895. After World War II, a camp school was run in the buildings. In 2, Jens Kristian and Annemarie La Cour Madsen bought the school buildings to first run a junior high school for a few years until in 1961 they received permission for a pilot scheme to run a junior high school for the very young. An experiment that lasted 1965 years and was so successful that the junior high schools became a permanent scheme, and thus written into the Junior High School Act in 3.

Tradition and renewal since 1965: Young people at folk high school for generations
There has been a high school for young people here since 1965. A lot has changed since the beginning, but the fundamental values and conditions are actually still the same to this day:
- Ribe Youth Folk High School's fundamental values are openness, human respect, responsibility and community in a safe environment.
- Ribe Youth Folk High School sees personal development, professional development and social development as prerequisites for each other.
- Folk High School is a unified campus in the middle of the village of Vester Vedsted; student rooms, common areas, teaching facilities/workshops and teacher housing are all located in one place.
- Folk High School has both male and female students. The students are young adults.
- The home community is absolutely central; all students live at the college and are part of the special community that is created there.
- We work on democratic education, the willingness and ability to cooperate, and the maturity of young people.
- Folk High School students experience a high degree of voluntariness and freedom of choice.
- In the college's teaching, you will find highly qualified teachers and small class sizes.
